About

In Ku-ring-gai, we are fortunate to be surrounded by natural bushland. However, severe bushfires can threaten lives and cause damage to property and the environment. That's why we have plans in place to help protect the community.
Hazard reduction burning is undertaken in bushland areas to minimise fuel loads and prevent landscape-scale fire impacts. The effectiveness of these burns is limited after around four years, so it's important to consider your own property, landscaping and home resilience. We also periodically undertake ecological burning which are smaller burns, planned with specific biodiversity objectives in mind, such as providing improved habitat for threatened species or regenerating endangered ecological communities.
