Council can take action and issue fines if vehicles are left unattended for extended periods or pose safety risks. Owners are responsible for ensuring their vehicles are not abandoned and must remove them within specific timeframes, depending on the vehicle's condition and registration status.
In NSW abandoned vehicles on public land are managed under the Public Spaces (Unattended Property) Act 2021 and related regulations.
Please note: If you are reporting a vehicle that is parked illegally, you can lodge a request under Illegal parking to have the matter investigated.
